LaLiga Santander 2022-2023 is coming to an end and with two days to go until its conclusion the main point of attention is focused on who will be relegated along with Elche, with seven teams immersed in the fight and separated by five points. We review the calendar that remains for those involved, with three being able to save themselves by already winning and without expecting any other result.
1. Valencia. The ‘che’ team is one of the two that is in the 40-point range, two above relegation. However, after falling in Palma de Mallorca and the victories of those behind, life has become complicated again. The duel this Sunday at Mestalla against Espanyol, penultimate with 35, may be definitive to end anguish. If not, they will have to go play at the home of a Betis that could still have to certify the Europa League in a very different ‘final’ from last year’s Cup.
2. Celtic. The team from Vigo is the other one that has 40 points. The most worrying thing is the feelings he has at this point in the campaign after adding one point in the last 15. On Sunday he has a direct duel at the Nuevo Mirandilla with Cádiz, who is 38 and for whom victory could save him. The arrival of José Bordalás seems to have had the desired effect and the victory at Villamarín has given them encouragement for a difficult final stretch without their best scorer, Enes Unal. This Sunday an Osasuna that is in the middle of the fight for seventh place will be measured at the Coliseum and will then have to visit Valladolid, in what may be another ‘final’ of the closing of the championship.
5. Cadiz. The Cadista team is also with 38 points and hopes to end the suffering on matchday 37 where they receive Celta with three vital points at stake, ‘gold’ if Valladolid also loses in Almería. His last clash, if he needs it, seems “affordable” since he will visit the already relegated Elche, although he will play without any kind of pressure.
6. Valladolid. Another involved with 38 points after beating FC Barcelona, although it is in relegation places. Paulo Pezzolano’s men broke a bad dynamic and took courage for what they have left, two direct duels against Almería and Getafe, where they will almost certainly need the maximum possible points.
7. Spanish. The blue and white team is the one that has it the most complicated, although it depends on itself. With 35 points, they need to win their remaining two games to stay on. They will have to survive the visit to Mestalla and then win the opportunity to play it at the RCDE Stadium against Almería.
