Valencia CF announced this Wednesday the renewal for one more season of Diego López’s contract, who remains linked to the ‘Che’ club until June 30, 2027, “very happy” with the personal and team turnaround with Rubén Baraja as coach.
“The Asturian footballer (05/13/2002) renewed with Valencia CF last summer until 2026 and today his extension has become effective upon meeting the contractual milestones subject to the number of games played,” said the club’s official statement.
After his emergence into the first team with a decisive contribution in the final stretch of the 2022-23 season, Diego López has established himself as an important footballer at the front of the attack under the command of Rubén Baraja.
López, 21, has played 31 games between LaLiga EA Sports and the Copa del Rey so far this season, scoring four goals and providing five assists. “I am very happy to extend, for one more year, the contract until 2027. All the people who know me know that I am very happy here in Valencia and I hope there will be many more,” he said in his first interview after his renewal, to the media of the Valencia.
“A year ago I couldn’t imagine it because just a year ago we broke into the famous ‘Quinta del Pipo’ and things have changed a lot, especially for the better. I have fulfilled many dreams and I hope to continue fulfilling them here at Valencia CF,” he added. .
On the other hand, Diego López highlighted the work of a good season that may still have the prize of qualifying for Europe. “It has been a very intense year in which many things have happened, the end of last season was hard, but the whole team responded well and we moved the situation forward. This year, since preseason, we have done a great job and is being reflected in the table. We are very happy, especially me, and we have to continue like this,” he stated.
“He has made us play with the ease with which we play, without any type of pressure. He knows it, we always thank him, even if we don’t tell him.
