Carlos III and Prince Guillermo reappear by surprise in the queue of the burning chapel of Elizabeth II

The king Charles III and his firstborn, the Prince Guillermo of Wales, went this Saturday to two points in London to greet and chat with thousands of people who have been waiting for their turn for hours in the kilometric queue to say goodbye to the queen Isabel II.

Both the 73-year-old monarch and the 40-year-old heir to the throne spoke slowly and shook hands with numerous people who were lining up on the south bank of the River Thames. “Thank you for waiting so long in line. It’s incredible,” Guillermo said to one of the groups with whom he stopped to chat. “You’re already past the halfway point, almost there, thank you very much,” he added.

The authorities warned early this Saturday that the journey from Southwark Park, where the line begins, to the Palace of Westminster, where the remains of Elizabeth II lie since Wednesday, could take up to 24 hours.

It is estimated that when the funeral chapel closes its doors on Monday morning, before the state funeral, about 400,000 people will have passed in front of the coffin. Carlos III also visited today the police, firefighters and health personnel of the London district of Lambeth, through which part of the queue passes, to thank them for their work.
