Best young players to watch out for at the Euros

With the Euro 2020 provisional squad announcements this week, fans are getting a first glance at what their squad will look like for the tournament.

Some managers have opted for large provisional squads. However, these must be trimmed to 26 players for the tournament, which begins with Italy vs Turkey on Friday 11th June.

Several young players, who have performed well for Europe’s elite this season, will head to the Euros this summer in the hope of announcing themselves on the international stage.

Kylian Mbappe (France)

At the 2018 World Cup in Russia, there was a growing intrigue about how 19-year-old Kylian Mbappe would perform for a talented French side. The starlet took the tournament by storm, scoring four goals in seven appearances and lifting the title with France.

Since then, Mbappe transferred from Monaco to Paris St Germain for the second-highest ever transfer fee in world football, and he has become a global household name. The 22-year-old forward has made nearly 200 appearances for PSG, scored 132 goals and made 61 assists.

Bookies like on www.sportfogadas.net have tipped Mbappe as certainly one of the young talents to keep an eye on this summer, and he could be in contention for the Golden Boot award.

Phil Foden (England)

For the past two years, the potential of Man City midfielder Phil Foden has slowly been showcased by Pep Guardiola through substitute cameos and cup appearances.

The England starlet has progressed this season and impressed with his blend of technical quality, direct play and intelligence. In the 2020/21 season, Foden has played himself into the Citizens starting 11, and he has had his best season for the club, making 49 appearances and scoring 16 goals in all competitions.

At just 20-years old, Foden has already won three English Premier League titles, four EFL Cups and one FA Cup, and he will be looking to bring his winning mentality to England’s Euro 2020 campaign.

Dejan Kulusevski (Sweden)

21-year-old attacking midfielder Dejan Kulusevski has been on the radar in Italian football for the past three years and is known for his creativity and forward-thinking playing style.

After impressing at Atalanta at various youth levels, Kulusevski was eventually signed by Italian giants Juventus in 2020 for £31.5 million.

The Swedish playmaker was loaned out to Parma for the 2019/20 season, and he scored 10 goals and made nine assists in 39 appearances. This season has been Kulusevski’s first season as a Juventus player, and the 21-year-old has made 47 appearances, scored seven and assisted seven, repaying the faith shown by Andrea Pirlo.

As one of Sweden’s brightest generational talents since Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Kulusevski will carry high expectations for his nation in Euro 2020.

Fernan Torres (Spain)

21-year-old Man City forward Fernan Torres has had an impressive first season at the Etihad. Despite struggling for playing time earlier in the season, Torres played himself into Pep Guardiola’s starting 11 late in the season, particularly in the Premier League.

Whenever he has started, Torres has showcased his talent with impressive performances, putting in a man of the match performances in wins against Crystal Palace and Newcastle.

Spain manager Luis Enrique has shown faith in Torres at the international level. The striker has scored six goals in just nine competitive international appearances, including a hat-trick against Germany in just his seventh senior international match.
