Bernardo: “We are better prepared than last season”

She was left with honey on her lips. City have long craved the highest honor in European football, winning the Champions League. After several disappointments in previous campaigns, the Celestes seemed headed for their first title when last year they got into the final in Porto. A goal from Kai Havertz condemned them to continue waiting. They fell, but Bernardo Silva believes they are ready to pick themselves up again and continue moving in the right direction: “I see the team better prepared than last season. We know each other better, we’ve already been with Pep for five or six years and we’ve learned from our mistakes” .

Despite the improvements that Bernardo finds in his team, the midfielder predicted a difficult quarter-final tie against Atlético de Madrid: “It won’t be just another game. It’s a competition that most of us haven’t won, it’s the only one that we lack”.

“We know that Atlético will make it difficult for us. We know them. They are used to playing this type of game with a lot of pressure. They are aggressive and will not leave us much space. They have some of the best players in the world, they are very competitive, organized and have a very defined style of play. Manchester United couldn’t beat them, neither did Liverpool two years ago. It won’t be easy”.
