Barcelona will be the scene of the Estrella Damm Barcelona Master Final 2022 of the World Padel Tour circuit, which will be held from December 15 to 18 at the Palau Sant Jordi, after the signing of a collaboration agreement between the City Council and the organizers of the competition.
Those in charge of signing the collaboration document were the Deputy Mayor for Economy, Labor, Competitiveness and Finance, Jaume Collboni, the Councilor for Sports, David Escudé, and the president of the World Padel Tour, Ramón Agenjo, during an act that also featured with the presence of players Agustín Tapia and Alix Collombon, and former tennis player Alex Corretja, who recently joined the WPT as deputy to the Presidency.
“Sport and major sporting events are part of the city’s DNA and we cannot miss the opportunity to become more involved with paddle tennis, a sport that adds new followers every day and for which we predict a great future”, celebrated Jaume Collboni .
For his part, David Escudé described the alliance with the WPT as “a step forward to ratify Barcelona’s commitment to padel, a sport that is growing a lot in the city both in the professional and amateur spheres”, while Ramón Agenjo hopes that the event achieve historical figures and stressed that “Barcelona will dress up as paddle tennis to receive the professionals”.
As reported by the City Council in a press release, this agreement also offers the possibility of extending the Barcelona headquarters for two more years, which could host this important WPT event until 2024.
