Alavés has three victories and a draw in his last five visits to Betis

The Deportivo Alavés, rival this Monday of Real Betis at Benito Villamarin, has won in three of his last five visits to the Verdiblanco stadium -and drew in another-, where previously he had only managed to win once in the twelve previous matches recorded over 92 years, since the faces were first seen in the 1928/29 season, in the Second Division, with the victory of Betis by3-2.

Real Betis and Deportivo Alavés have met a total of 17 times in Betis field in all competitions, with a balance of 11 Betis wins, 2 draws and 4 victories for the Vitoria, three of them achieved in their last five visits, since On November 23, 2014 they won 1-2 on the 14th round of the Second Division and caused the dismissal of the then Betic coach, Julio Velázquez, who after that match would be replaced by Juan Merino for four rounds -four victories and Fabián's debut in a of them- and in turn this one by Pepe Mel, with whom the Verdiblanco team achieved its last promotion in 2015.

Alavés would rise a year later and in 2016/17 they won again, this time 1-4, a week before Betis lost 4-0 in Leganés on matchday 36 and caused the dismissal of Víctor Sánchez del Amo, who in turn he had relieved Gustravo Poyet after the 11th. In 2017/18 there was the only Betic victory at home in recent years, when those then coached by Setién won 2-0, with goals from Sanabria and Alexis in their own goal.

In 2018/19 they registered a 1-1 and last season Alavés won 1-2 at Villamarín on the penultimate day and managed to mathematically certify their permanence, with goals from Joselu and Ely, and from Loren for the locals. . That was Loren's tenth goal in the 2019/20 season and the only goal for the Marbella striker in 2020 at Benito Villamarín, where he has not scored again since then, since in the league he has only scored another, last November at FC Barcelona at the Camp Nou.

Alavés' first triumph in the Betis field dates back to the 1999/00 season, when those led by Mané won 0-1 with a Kodro goal on matchday 34 and pushed the locals into the abyss, led by Guus Hiddink -which would be dismissed a week later- and with players of the stature of Finidi, Alfonso, Denilson, Prats and Vidakovic or millionaire signings such as Benjamin and Ito.
