Alavés and Girona want to prolong their euphoria

BARCELONA, 9 May. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Matchday 35 of LaLiga EA Sports starts this Friday with an interesting match between two teams in top shape that will want to continue the euphoria they experienced in the previous matchday, with a Deportivo Alavés already saved that receives in Mendizorroza a Girona FC that achieved the ticket for the next ‘Champions’ by winning the Catalan derby.

At 9:00 p.m., Alavés will receive the love of its people after achieving permanence, with four games remaining in LaLiga, with its away victory against Valencia (0-1). But, to complete the party, they will have to beat a Girona team that also comes in grown after defeating Barça (4-2) in Montilivi.

In the following season Alavés will once again be in the elite and they do so thanks to a series of three consecutive games winning. A streak that began on matchday 32 with a home win over Atlético de Madrid (2-0), which continued with another local victory against Celta (3-0) and continued at Mestalla with Javi López’s goal in the 69′.

Nothing is at stake anymore, with the permanence that was the great objective already achieved and with Europe already out of reach, having too many teams above it. But extending the winning streak to four days and doing so against a Girona FC that is second in the table would already be a sufficiently exciting challenge.

Although the big question now in Vitoria is whether the coach, Luis García, will continue next year. The coach wanted to wait to achieve the goal of salvation and, with this already in his pocket, negotiations began. “The club has followed the line it had set, that we sat down and talked. We sat down and we are going to talk,” he commented in the run-up to this duel.

The ‘Glorioso’ coach also confirmed that Owono will be the goalkeeper in the four remaining days of LaLiga EA Sports and also that he will be able to count on both Gorosabel and Duarte, who trained with the group after overcoming their physical problems. The only loss, due to sanction, to receive Girona will be that of Samu.

For its part, Girona FC also has the great objective of recent dates in its possession; the ticket for the next Champions League. Yes, Girona continues to make history in a year that began as leaders, in which they fought face to face with the winner Real Madrid and in which they achieved something never seen or done before; take Girona to the highest continental level.

Míchel still has the absences of Cristhian Stuani, Borja García and Solís, but the rest of the ‘gironins’ are willing to continue partying, now in Vitoria. The victory in the Catalan derby over Barça made Montilivi touch the sky, with an ecstasy that they already experienced in the first leg when they won in Montjuïc with the same result (2-4, then).

Now, Girona FC wants to defend the second place they regained by beating Xavi Hernández’s team. There are four duels left, four finals, to add a runner-up finish that would make the season even more historic. The important thing, the ‘Champions’, has already been achieved but the Catalans want more.

Beyond that second place, other objectives that Míchel’s team have in mind is to ensure that their star forward, the Ukrainian Artem Dovbyk, can be the ‘Pichichi’ of this League. At the moment, he has 20 goals compared to 18 from Jude Bellingham (Real Madrid) and 17 from Alexander Sorloth (Villarreal) and Robert Lewandowski (Barça).
