Bayern reiterate that they will not improve the renewal offer to Alaba

The sports director of the Bayern Munich, Hasan Salihamnidzic, reiterated that the club will not improve the offer to renew the defender David Alaba and he warned that the Bavarian club is not willing to commit “crazy things” that may be committed in other clubs.

“At Bayern there is a financial limit that has to do with sports and is represented (the salary) by Manuel Neuer and Robert Lewandowski. I don't think David believes he is above both, “said Salihamidzic.

Negotiations for Alaba's renewal have been muddied after Bayern Honorary President Uli Hoeness called the player's agent, Pini Zahavi, a “greedy piranha”.

“Zahavi thinks in other dimensions. He has the right to do it but we are not going to follow him. We are not going to do crazy things like maybe he has seen in other clubs and much less at a time when income is low,” said Salihamidzic.

Salihamidzic insisted that all those responsible for the club want Alaba to stay and said that, despite having rejected the renewal offer several times, he will continue to try to convince him.

The Bayern Supervisory Board has already decided that Alaba's offer will not be improved, so the player has three options left: to back off and accept the offer, fulfill the remaining year of his contract and go free or get a club to reach an agreement with Bayern.

According to press reports Zahavi would have asked for between 20 and 25 million euros per year for Alaba and the club's offer is between 15 and 17 million euros.
