Martic and Kontaveit go to quarters in Palermo

Croatian Petra Martic, first seed, qualified this Thursday for the quarterfinals of the WTA tournament in Palermo (Italy) by beating the Russian Liudmila Samsonova with a comeback.

Martic, 15 in the world, ended up beating Samsonova, 117 in the ranking, by 5-7, 6-4 and 6-2 to join Belarusian Aliaksandra Sasnovich, who made it to the quarterfinals on Wednesday at the expense of Italy's Jasmine Paolini.

The fourth favorite, the Estonian, also entered the quarters Anett Kontaveit, in his case by beating the German Laura Siegemund 3-6, 6-2 and 6-2.
