There will be no declines in Turkey, at the request of the clubs

The Turkish Football Federation (TFF) has decided to suspend the declines this season at the request of the clubs. The TFF has made the decision about the season that ended last weekend. According to that provision, the descents do not only take place this season in the Super Líg, the highest category. In addition, in the other categories, the TFF 1. Líg, the TFF 2. Líg and the TFF 3. Líg, neither will any team drop during this season.

The Super Líg will be played with 21 teams next season, after the league promotions of Erzurumspor, Hatayspor and Adana Demirspor or Fatih Karagumruk (the latter two will play the last place in the promotion tomorrow). Then, in the 2021-22 season, the top Turkish competition will have twenty teams. Kayserispor, Ankaragucu and Malatyaspor had dropped this season, but all three are going to continue playing in the Super Líg. Federation President Nihat Özdemir said the decision was made thanks to the consensus of all the Super Líg clubs.

“In the 2020-2021 season, 4 teams will descend. The Super League will be played with 20 teams in the 2021-2022 campaign. The new rule for foreign players will not apply in the 2020-2021 season and will be effective from the 2021-2022 campaign. Eight foreign players will be eligible for the new quota established by the Federation. This season the teams were able to play with eleven foreigners. The TFF will announce the spending limits of each team on the first day of the market, on August, “said the president.
