Getafe breathes with Álvaro Rodríguez and depresses Espanyol

MADRID, 9 Dic. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Getafe, with a solitary goal from striker Álvaro Rodríguez in the first minutes, beat RCD Espanyol (1-0) this Monday in the last match of the sixteenth day of LaLiga EA Sports, a result that allows the Madrid team to move away the dangerous positions, into which the blue and white team sinks.

As soon as the duel began, Joan García rejected a good shot from Mauro Arambarri and caught the ball from Coba da Costa’s subsequent shot. The blue team continued to press, and when the 8th minute of the match was over, a header from Álvaro Rodríguez to Luis Milla’s center managed to open the scoring.

The chances occurred in a frenetic first half in which neither of the two contenders was successful in front of goal, although it was José Bordalás’ men who tried the most, with Coba, in his debut as a starter, as one of his men more active.

As soon as the match resumed, Manolo González’s team began to press. Walid Cheddira tried to surprise the hosts in an action in which he failed to finish by just a few centimeters, and Alex Král almost equalized with a shot that Diego Rico headed away.

However, the Madrid team did not give up continuing to attack and in the 67th minute, they found the crossbar from a corner kick taken by Omar Alderete. Little by little, the game was dying and Getafe saved the three points.

With this victory, the second in the last three days, the azulón team now has 16 points, three more than Espanyol (13) that continues to mark the relegation positions after conceding its seventh away defeat of the season and that does not lift head after a week in which they were eliminated in the Copa del Rey by Barbastro.
