Real Madrid forward Kylian Mbappé highlighted the “affection” he has felt since the first day in the Spanish capital and pointed out that they are “preparing for what is important” after an irregular but excellent start to the campaign, while he reviewed his affection for the PSG and its loyalty to the French team.
“The fans love you even if you haven’t played a minute with the shirt. In Madrid the people are with you, they support you, it is a very Spanish culture, very affectionate, very in contact with people, in sharing. In Paris they love you until death, but first show that we must love you,” he said this Sunday in an interview with the Clique program, broadcast on Canal+.
Mbappé confessed that the start of the season is not entirely convincing but recalled that the important thing is yet to come. “At the moment it is not the best start to the season, neither collectively nor individually, but we are in the fight for all the trophies and we are preparing for the important moments that will count. We have already won a trophy, the European Super Cup, we have a final to win a second in three months,” he said.
On the other hand, the French striker referred to his turbulent departure from Paris Saint-Germain and showed his affection for the team led by Luis Enrique. “I was there for seven years and I enjoyed all seven, no matter what happened at the end. It’s a place where things are intense, both good and bad. Maybe the mistake I made last year was confusing everything. With a clear head , it is easier to realize this,” he noted.
“I continue watching all the games and I wish PSG the best. I want to win the Champions League with Madrid but I hope that one day PSG wins it because the fans and the people who suffer every day deserve a little happiness,” he added. .
Furthermore, the French striker explained his recent absences with his national team. “My love has not changed. In September I spoke to the coach and asked him not to go, I had just arrived in Madrid. Mentally, I was not in a state of mind where I was 100%. In October I was injured and in November it is a decision by the coach. I wanted to go but I don’t know why I didn’t go. I focus on Real Madrid but I have never abandoned the France team,” he said.
On the other hand, Mbappé was asked about the Stockholm affair, his trip and his name in the country’s media in the midst of a sexual assault investigation. “I didn’t expect it at all. I was surprised. I didn’t receive anything, no summons, nothing. I’m not worried. It’s just a misunderstanding. I never felt worried even though there was a lot of noise.
