The president of the Spanish Olympic Committee (COE), Alejandro Blanco, the general director of ADO, Jennifer Pareja, and the former walker Jesús Ángel ‘Chuso’ García Bragado started the Tajamar 500 kilometer relay race this Thursday, which It will link Madrid and Torreciudad (Huesca).
“If someone asks about the secret of Spanish sport, all they have to do is come here to see it: in the family and the education that occurs at school,” said Alejandro Blanco at the Tajamar school in Madrid before kicking off the uninterrupted race of 48 hours that will cover, with 53 relays, the distance to Torreciudad.
The Army also participates in the race. Lieutenant General Palacios Zaforteza, second chief of the Army Staff, pointed out that in this career there are also the values on which part of the units’ preparation is based: camaraderie, discipline and perseverance. Palacios Zaforteza has run the first relay with a hundred soldiers from the Alcázar de Toledo and Príncipe de Asturias regiments.
The director of Tajamar, Alfonso Hernando, recognized the support of RedMadre, the main sponsor of the Race, which has been with the race from the beginning. “One of the objectives of this race is to unite family and sport – as its motto says: ‘Sport makes family’ – and that begins by helping women who have difficulties being mothers and accompanying them in raising their children. , as RedMadre has done for so many years,” he commented.
Mediterránea Group, a Spanish company in global collective catering services and responsible for the center’s school cafeteria, will be the firm in charge of the supplies. It will offer a dinner for 150 runners in Ayerbe during the night of the first day of the race and, later, it will serve a paella for 300 people for lunch at the finish.
