World Team easily wins Laver Cup in Vancouver

The doubles of Ben Shelton and Frances Tiafoe seal the victory (13-2) over Europe

MADRID, 25 Sep. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The sixth edition of the Laver Cup was scored this Sunday by the World Team with a resounding 13-2 victory over Europe, with the final point achieved by Ben Shelton and Frances Tiafoe over Hubert Hurkacz and Andrey Rublev by 7-6(4), 7 -6(5).

The team captained by John McEnroe won the tournament for the second year in a row after losing the first four. The event, within the ATP circuit and promoted by Roger Federer who retired last year in the edition held in London, only needed one match on Sunday.

The Americans did not give the option of some European battle in Vancouver (Canada), where the tournament was held for the first time and only Casper Ruud scored for those from the Old Continent. Federer was present in the stands, a year after ending his legendary career by forming doubles with the Spanish Rafa Nadal.
