MADRID, 18 Sep. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Ethiopian athlete Gudaf Tsegay and the Swede Mondo Duplantis captured world records in the 5,000 meters and pole vault in the final of the Diamond League in Eugene (Oregon, United States).

Tsegay shattered the 5,000 world record with a 14:00.21 at Hayward Field. The 10,000m world champion lowered Faith Kipyegon’s mark by five seconds last June in Paris.

For his part, where he was world champion last year, Duplantis added one centimeter to his pole vault world record that he had established in Clermont-Ferrand in February, with a 6.23 in his first attempt to continue writing the history of the sport, the seventh world record of his career.
