LaLiga warns that it will act “firmly” for the ‘Negreira case’

MADRID, 21 Feb. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The professional clubs have expressed their “rejection” and rejection and LaLiga has warned that it will act “firmly” in the case of the alleged payment by FC Barcelona for the arbitration reports to the former vice president of the Technical Committee of Referees (CTA) José María Enríquez Negreira .

In a statement, LaLiga and its Delegate Commission -made up of Atlético de Madrid, Levante, Sevilla, Real Betis, Real Sociedad, Cádiz, Getafe, Villarreal, Tenerife, Alavés, Eibar, UD Las Palmas, Lugo and Huesca- indicated that they “reject “and they “repudiate” the facts and expressed their deep concern, as well as stating that they are “actively working” to clarify “any irregularity” in the “Negreira case”, of a sporting nature or “of any other nature”.

LaLiga has exposed to the members of the Delegate Commission the actions that it has carried out and is carrying out, including a letter to the Prosecutor’s Office as announced by the president, Javier Tebas, communications with the data and information that it considers pertinent to Spanish and European organizations and other which he considers that “should not be made public” so as not to harm the investigation.

This Monday at the Division Board, most of the LaLiga clubs expressed their “deep concern” over this case, which they consider to be of “maximum seriousness” and for this reason the proposal for a joint communication received the unanimous support of all the teams in LaLiga SmartBank and Santander with the exception of two -FC Barcelona and Real Madrid, according to what Europa Press learned-, which objected to this joint statement “for different reasons”.

“LaLiga is following this matter very closely and will act firmly within the powers and limits allowed by the Law. The Delegate Commission firmly supports the actions of LaLiga in response to the work demonstrated and carried out over these years to preserve the integrity of the competition”, concluded the note.
