Nadal says goodbye injured to the Australian Open

MADRID, 18 Ene. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish tennis player Rafa Nadal has been eliminated this Wednesday from the Australian Open, the first ‘Grand Slam’ of the season and in which he was defending the title, after falling in three sets (6-4, 6-4, 7-5) against American Mackenzie McDonald and after playing injured from the end of the second.

The Spaniard, first favourite, had to seek medical attention in the final stretch of the second set, when he had already lost the first and was down 5-3, and he was treated at the level of his left hip. The winner of 22 ‘Grand Slams’ has managed to continue on the track, but, visibly diminished, he has not been able to avoid defeat and has said goodbye to his career in Melbourne Park.
