Juan Carlos I, in his sauce after getting away with it: new photos of his time in Buckingham

Happy, smiling and as if the gaze of the Spanish press was not on his shoulders. New images of Juan Carlos I in London, belonging to the reception that Charles III organized this Sunday at Buckingham Palace.

The official social networks of the Commonwealth have posted the photographs on their profiles, along with the rest of the images of Carlos III and Camilla with heads and former heads of state. They were all invited by the British crown to the funeral of Isabel II. Despite the recommendations of Zarzuela and the Government, Don Juan Carlos did not hesitate to accept the invitation.

In these photographs appears Juan Carlos I smiling, greeting the king and the queen consort. In some of them there is also the Queen Sofia, in the background and in the background. They were together but, apparently, not very mixed.

All the controversial photos

As we already showed on Sunday, the emeritus entered Buckingham Palace together, starring in an image that is already part of the history of the Spanish crown. The first snapshot of the two together since Don Juan Carlos left for Abu Dhabi in August 2020.

This Monday morning, at the funeral at Westminster Abbey, Don Juan Carlos was sitting next to Doña Sofía, Letizia and, of course, Felipe VI. It was the photo that Zarzuela most wanted to avoid, but they have not been able to do anything against British protocol. Especially commented has been the image of the emeritus laughing in the church.

In the solemn acts that have been held later in Windsor, Don Juan Carlos and Queen Letizia have not been present. The first declined the invitation and the second headed for New York, where in the next few days he will meet again Jill Biden. In this way, a compromised new image has been avoided. Doña Sofía and Felipe VI have entered alone, arm in arm.
