Jay Vine conquers the Colláu Fancuaya and Evenepoel maintains the ‘red’

MADRID, 27 Ago. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Australian cyclist Jay Vine (Alpecin-Deceunick) has been awarded the eighth stage of the Vuelta Ciclista a España, disputed this Saturday between Pola de Laviana and Colláu Fancuaya, over 153.4 kilometers of route, while the Belgian Remco Evenepoel (Quick -Step Alpha Vinyl) is still the leader of the general classification.

The breakaway prevailed over the men in the general classification for the second consecutive day and the fastest -among the ten escapees with options for the stage victory- was Jay Vine, who imposed his law to take his second partial victory.

The Australian once again exhibited his power in the mountains, which already allowed him to win the sixth stage on the climb to Pico Jano, to be the fastest and win the polka dot jersey for the points classification.

A double victory after his incessant pace that the Spaniard Marc Soler (UAE Team Emirates) could not follow until the end, who finished second at 43 seconds along with the Estonian Rein Taaramäe (Intermarché-Wanty-Gobert).
