Manchester City and Ajax, the best sellers on the market

There is still a month and a half left for the closing of the market but it is surprising to see Manchester City in the first place of the clubs that have entered the most money at this point in the summer due to the transfer of their players ahead of Ajax, a regular in this season ranking after season.

In fact, City leads the chapter on expenses, as it is also the club that has invested the most in transfers so far, with a total of 108.75 million euros destined to incorporate the Norwegian striker Erling Haaland (Borussia Dortmund) for 60 and at English midfielder Kalvin Phillips (Leeds) for 48.75.

City has distinguished itself in recent years for being one of the clubs that spends the most money to strengthen its squad, but this time it is surprising that it compensates for the high cost by generating even higher income. The figure in this section rises to 121.90 million euros.

The Brazilian Gabriel Jesús made his debut as a 'gunner' after the break in the friendly against Nuremberg and was key to the comeback with his two goals.

Gabriel Jesus has already scored three goals in two friendlies with Arsenal

Two players that Pep Guardiola has dispensed with have meant practically all of said income for City. These are the English winger Raheem Sterling, transferred to Chelsea for 56.20 million euros, and the Brazilian striker Gabriel Jesus, signed by Arsenal for 52.20.

The 8.5 million paid by Sporting de Portugal to acquire the Extremadura side Pedro Porro after having him in their squad on loan for the last two seasons and the 5 million paid by Borussia M’gladbach for the same concept by the Japanese pivot Ko Itakura complete the 121.90 that have already entered the City coffers this summer, beating a traditionally selling club like Ajax. Brazilian pivot Fernandinho has also left the Etihad after finishing his contract.

Ajax, with many casualties

Erik ten Hag, new manager of Manchester United, has taken with him from Ajax to Old Trafford the Argentine central defender Lisandro Martínez, whose signing by the ‘red devils’ has been announced today in exchange for 57.37 million euros.

It is the most expensive transfer of the ‘ajacied’ club in what we have been in the market, raising the income from losses in the squad to 107.87 million euros.

In second place on this list is the Ivorian striker Sébastien Haller, transferred by Ajax to Borussia Dortmund for 31 million euros. Dutch midfielder Ryan Gravenberch has gone to Bayern Munich for 18.5, while Croatian side HNK Gorica has snapped up goalkeeper Dominik Kotarski for €1m before selling him to PAOK Thessaloniki.

And five after finishing his contract

Ajax has lost five other players but in this case without receiving any amount as their contracts have expired. They are the Moroccan winger Noussair Mazraoui (Bayern Munich), the Cameroonian goalkeeper André Onana (Inter), the Brazilian striker Danilo Pereira (Feyenoord), the Polish goalkeeper Przemyslaw Tyton (Twente) and the Moroccan playmaker Zakaria Labyad, still without a team.
