Zverev will continue to have Sergi Bruguera as coach

MADRID, 1 May. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The German tennis player Alexander Zverev has confirmed that the Spanish Davis Cup captain, Sergi Bruguera, will continue to be his coach after collaborating with him at the Masters 1,000 in Miami, and has acknowledged that he is looking forward to the Mutua Madrid Open, one of his ” favorite places in the world.

“He is my coach, yes. You can never put a time on this, but I hope it will be for a long time. I have been without a coach, without a real coach for six or seven months, since my father had other things that he had to deal with. deal with,” he declared at the press conference prior to the start of the Mutua Madrid Open.

In this sense, he acknowledged that he thought that his father’s absence would not be for “so long”. “I thought my father would come back maybe a little earlier, but it is what it is. Sometimes there are things more important than tennis and, yes, I need a coach. I need guidance. I need someone who can keep an eye on what is happening on the court. I believe that Sergi is one of the best for this”, explained.

“Obviously, I spoke with David Ferrer again, because for me he is a great guy. He said that at the moment he has many other things to do, and it was he who suggested Sergi Bruguera. We tried Miami and it worked very well. We get along very well on the pitch. Hopefully it will be a successful relationship,” he continued.

On the other hand, the German recognized that he played a “very bad” match in the Munich tournament, where he was eliminated in the first round. “I didn’t die or get injured or anything like that, but it was a very bad game in Munich,” he said.

Finally, Zverev assured that he is “happy” to be in Madrid to face the appointment at the Caja Mágica. “This is obviously one of my favorite places in the world to play tennis. We’ll see how it goes this week, but I’m excited and motivated,” he concluded.
