Zverev, the top scorer of the season in tennis

The 2021 season has become Alexander Zverev’s definitive leap to stardom in the world of tennis, in a year in which the German tennis player has been one of the great figures of the NextGen warning to end the Big Three tyranny of Roger Federer, Rafa Nadal and Novak Djokovic in the world of tennis.

With his victory at the Nitto ATP Finals in Turin, his second ‘Maestro’ title after the one won in 2018, Zverev has put the finishing touch to a spectacular season in which he has led numerous statistics within the ATP circuit and in which he has also managed to win individual gold at the Olympic Games, a feat that only Rafa Nadal and Andy Murray can boast among active tennis players and that are still resisted by tennis players like Federer (he does have an Olympic gold in doubles) or Novak Djokovic, who was frustrated by his dream of gold in the semifinals of the Tokyo Olympics.

No tennis player has won as much this season as Alexander Zverev, as the German ends the season with a record of 59 wins and 15 losses., one win more than Daniil Medvedev (58), four wins more than Ruud and Tsitsipas (55) and eight wins more than Novak Djokovic (51).

The dominance of Zverev has also been translated in this 2021 in the form of titles, since The German ends the year as the tennis player who has raised the most trophies this season on the circuit with 6: Acapulco, Mutua Madrid Open, the Olympic Games, the Cincinnati Masters 1,000, the Vienna tournament and the ATP Finals, but with the thorn of his first Grand Slam. In this way he surpasses Novak Djokovic and Casper Ruud, winners of five titles this season each.

However, Zverev falls to the third position of the podium if we refer to the percentage of matches won this season, a classification in which Novak Djokovic commands with authority with a balance of 51 wins and 7 losses that translates into almost 88% of victories , by Daniil Medvedev’s 81.7 (58-13) and Zverev’s 79.7% (59-15), who hopes to continue improving these figures in 2022 to consolidate himself in the tennis elite and achieve, once and for all , his first Grand Slam, something that Dominic Thiem and Medvedev himself have achieved among NextGen tennis players.
