La Ponferradina beat UD Ibiza (2-1) at El Toralín with a brace from the veteran striker, while Las Palmas achieved their first win with a resounding thrashing at La Rosaleda (0-4)
MADRID, 23 Ago. (EUROPA PRESS) –
La Ponferradina added their second victory in LaLiga Smartbank after beating UD Ibiza (2-1) with a brace from Yuri, which allowed the Leonese to score full points in these first two league matches, while Las Palmas premiered their locker of victories overwhelming Málaga (0-4), which is already bottom.
In the match at El Toralín, the locals were superior in the first half, enjoying the clearest chances, although they were hampered by the lack of aim and the intense pressure from Rubén Baraja’s men. However, the local dominance was clear -‘Ponfe’ got to shoot 18 times in the duel- and it materialized in the 36th minute, when Yuri appeared, the usual one, and his opportunism to be the best placed and finish off a ball that Pascanu placed in the small area, after a strategic play that went wrong.
The local happiness did not last long, since five minutes later Ibiza responded with a great goal from Poveda, who shot from the left with a thread to tie. In the second half, the VAR was the protagonist after warning of a hand within the area of the Ibizan team that the referee ended up pointing out. Yuri converted the maximum penalty to put the final 2-1 on the scoreboard. The locals were able to sentence in minute 81, while Ibiza came close to equalizing in the final moments, but Amir won heads-up and left the three points at home.
GOLEADA DE LAS PALMAS TO ADD HIS FIRST WIN OF THE COURSE
In the other game on Monday, Las Palmas thrashed a Málaga team that is still in the UCI, after not adding a single point after two days, in addition to not winning at home since November last year. The Canarians were a real roller at La Rosaleda to get their first victory of the course, taking advantage of the mistakes and disorder of the Andalusians.
García Pimineta’s men, without Jonathan Viera due to injury, liked each other from start to finish, without giving a blurred Málaga options. In the first half, the Canarian team took the lead, with a goal from Óscar Clemente just before half-time. And the recital did not stop in the second 45 minutes, with three goals from Marc Cardona, Álvaro Jiménez -with a nice ‘picadita’- and Marvin, on loan from Real Madrid, to close the feast in Malaga.
Ponferradina is second in the table with six points, while UD Ibiza remains in relegation positions, occupying 20th place. For its part, the victory of Las Palmas places the Canaries fourth, in ‘Playoff’ positions with four units, with Málaga bottom of the competition and no points.
