Youth player Kevin Vázquez says goodbye to Celta de Vigo after six years in their first team

MADRID, 28 Ago. (EUROPA PRESS) –

RC Celta de Vigo and 31-year-old Spanish footballer Kevin Vázquez “have reached an early termination” of his contract by mutual agreement, the Vigo club announced on Wednesday, and the defender has left to sign for two seasons with Real Sporting de Gijón.

“The youth player, much loved by all the fans, is ending his career as a RC Celta player after a lifetime linked to the club. Born in Camos (Nigrán), he arrived at A Madroa as a child and, since then, has gone through different categories of the youth team, becoming an example of perseverance, effort and fighting to fulfil his dream,” said the Vigo club on its website.

Born on 23 March 1993, Vázquez “was trained in the RC Celta youth system, reaching the first team in 2018 and becoming its captain and a reference for Celta fans,” according to another press release from Sporting. “He has played 68 games in the top flight with the Vigo team,” said the Gijón club’s statement.

“The new red-and-white player has already passed the medical and is joining the first team,” added the Sporting statement. Meanwhile, the Celta text described Vázquez as “a person who has always perfectly represented the roots and philosophy that make Celta proud.”

“Values ​​that have made him captain of the reserve team and the first team, being an example of discipline, commitment and leadership. Celta would like to thank him for the dedication, involvement and love he has shown for this club that will always be his home and wish him every success in his future projects,” concluded the statement from the Celta club.
