Xavi Hernández: “We didn’t play so well today, nor did we play so badly the other day”

The culé coach praises Fermín López: “I don’t have any complex in putting young players”

MADRID, 30 Jul. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The coach of FC Barcelona, Xavi Hernández, stated this Sunday –at dawn in Spain– that his pupils “nor” had played “so well” against Real Madrid, despite winning 3-0, “nor the other such a bad day”, alluding to their recent 5-3 loss to Arsenal FC.

“I think we have played very well at times, but others have suffered, logically. In other words, the result is very favorable to us, but we haven’t played so well today, nor the other day so badly,” Xavi declared during the conference release after the match, played in Dallas (Texas, United States).

“It has been a game, from my point of view, even. There have been moments of everything, I think that in many moments we have dominated the game, which is what we like; enjoying keeping the ball, playing in the opposite field, have patience, long possessions… this is what we wanted. And more so against a rival who lives a lot on the counter and transitions. A very physical rival, a lot. Perhaps, looking at the lineup, right now he is the most physical world,” he said.

“We have done very good things, but there are things that we must improve. It is a process, we are in preseason, it is about accumulating minutes. And happy, man, happy with how we have competed, obviously. It is a Clásico, and a Clásico normally not It ends up being friendly at all. It has already been seen on the pitch”, Xavi stressed.

In addition, the Blaugrana coach praised the performance of Fermín López. “I personally like him. I see talent in him, I see his last pass, I think that is what we lacked a bit last season when it came to playing in three quarters of the field, and he sees it. And I have told him so I have told him to try things, that he has a shot from outside into the area, which is what we also lack”, he indicated in this regard.

“He uses both legs, he has the last pass, he also has talent. We’ll see, it depends on him. The mentality so far is very good and I don’t have any complexes about putting young players, none. We always look at the quarry, at home, that it is important”, concluded the trainer culé.
