WTA defines 2022 calendar without tournaments in China

The WTA has already defined what its calendar will be like for the 2022 season. A program with few surprises except for the return of Indian Wells to its usual dates and the no inclusion of any China-based tournaments in this first leg of the season.

As usual, the season will begin in Australia with two parallel tournaments in Adelaide and Melbourne and another two the following week in both cities, in addition to the Sydney Tennis Classic, the last big date before the start of the Australian Open, from January 17 to 30.

The next big event on the calendar will take place three weeks later, in February with the celebration of Qatar TotalEnergies Open, the WTA 1,000 in Doha, February 20-26. And in the month of March, the tennis elite will face another two demanding appointments in the United States with the WTA 1,000 of Indian Wells (March 9-20) and Miami (March 22 – April 3).

Then the gravel season will come with the WTA 1,000 from Madrid and Rome and Roland Garros as most prominent quotes before facing in ehe grass season in June with Wimbledon topping it off to this first part of the year 2022 in women’s tennis.
