Wolfsburg beat Freiburg (3-0) this Sunday and placed third in the Bundesliga, only surpassed by Leipzig and by the leaders, Bayern Munich, at the end of the 19th matchday. The take-off to the top is the reward for the good run of Oliver Glasner's team, who achieved his third victory in a row and has already accumulated five games without losing.
Wolfsburg put the game on track in the first half, with goals from the American John Brooks in the 21st minute and the Dutch Wout Weghorst in the 39th minute. He rounded off the success to four from the end thanks to Yannick Gerhardt.
Wolfsburg thus surpasses Eintracht Frankfurt and Bayer Leverkusen. Three points distance him from the second, Leipzig and ten from Bayern. Also this Sunday, Cologne left the relegation zone thanks to their victory against Arminia Bielefeld and is now 14th. Arminia Bielefeld fell to the penultimate position.
