Wimbledon will prepare 200 meals a day for those most in need

The All England Club, where the Wimbledon tournament is held annually except this season, will open its kitchens and prepare 200 meals a day for people who need it.

The initiative will be extended over the next three months and will be aimed at nearby Wimbledon neighborhoods, located on the outskirts of London.

The meals are prepared by the company that provides food to Wimbledon and by its official catering, and they will be distributed to those who need it by the City Harvest company.

“In addition to this distribution program, a donation has been made to City Harvest by the Wimbledon Foundation to support the organization. who has delivered more than 1.5 million meals during confinement, “the tournament said in a statement.

Richard Lewis, executive president of the All England Club, assured that many people in his community do not have access to food. and that without a Wimbledon to cook for, due to the cancellation of the tournament due to the pandemic, they have reconverted their efforts to provide hot food to the Merton and Wandsworth neighborhoods.

The Wimbledon tournament, which would have started in late June, It was canceled by the coronavirus pandemic for the first time since World War II.
