Wimbledon | Bautista saves the honor of the Navy with victory against Koepfer

Roberto Bautista again offered a Wimbledon his most solid, talented and strong version to advance to the round of 16 after beating Dominik Koepfer in the three sets (7-5, 6-1 and 7-6 (4) and two hours and 20 minutes that lasted a dangerous game resolved with mastery by the Spanish. The 27-year-old German and 62nd in the world gave more war than the score reflects, especially in a first set in which he went ahead with breaks up to three times and in the third, when he had a 5-2 in favor. In his duty, he was also unable to maintain regularity with his service and Bautista took advantage of that route to regain ground over and over again. It is the fourth time he has reached this point in the tournament and expects a rival for crazy Monday: Denis Shapovalov or Andy Murray.

The victory 65 of the Castellón was also in danger by a mishap that was scared, but could be serious. During the first heat, he slipped on the back of the track and fell with a dangerous stretch of his left leg that put him in a very bad position. Fortunately, he did not suffer any damage beyond that caused by that foreshortening and continued as if nothing had happened. In fact, his best tennis appeared later. Firmly overcame the aforementioned disadvantages and in the second set he ate a Koepfer overwhelmed by the serve of the Castellón who did not even have time to fail.

The third set was the test of the pasta that Bautista is made of, which allowed him to avoid a second-round upset against Kecmanovic. Instead of throwing up his sleeve when he was 5-2 against, Rober squeezed and avoided an extension that did not interest him. In the tiebreaker he was brilliant and in this way he was able to celebrate a triumph that brings him closer and closer to the semifinals he reached in 2019. It is the beacon of the Navy at Wimbledon, in the absence of Nadal, with Paula Badosa in the women's team.
