The Tax Agency has opened a file on Insparya Hair Medical Clinic, the capital graft clinics of Cristiano Ronaldofor issuing invoices without VAT to its clients between the years 2019 and 2021.
These clinics, in which Georgina Rodriguez appears as administrator, they maintain that alopecia “is a disease” and that “medical services for diagnosis, prevention, treatment and cure” are exempt from VAT. However, the Tax Agency assesses that transplants are performed for “purely aesthetic purposes”, which is why they should be taxed at 21%. This is reflected in the Tax Agency file that has been accessed. The confidential.
The investigation was opened for the VAT that goes from 2019 to 2021 and for the corporate tax of 2019 and 2020. It was then agreed to “open the hearing process”, to which the company responds, through its lawyers, that has been faithful to “all current legislation regarding tax, labor, health, regulatory and any other nature.”
As Insparya defends that the treatments are based on an aesthetic motivation – they even present a WHO assessment that defines “androgenetic alopecia” as such – the inspectors have viewed “the photos taken of different patients” to develop the investigation.
According to the report published by the aforementioned media, “they randomly consult what the entity’s computer program calls initial evaluations, located within the clinical process of eight patients, with seven of them having various photos of the state of their scalp.”
In addition, the Treasury also asked to justify the “deductibility” of expenses for “hotels”, “meals” and “travel”, as well as to clarify several invoices. Insparya has clinics in Madrid, Marbella, Valencia and Bilbao. Outside of Spain it also operates in Portugal and Italy.
