Why Chris Gayle Is The Most Destructive Batsman In Twenty20 Format?

Since the commencement of the Twenty20 cricket format, there have been many ups and downs in the position of the top players and teams. Different players from around the world have started playing the game seriously and slowly they are trying to reach the top. But one name that has maintained his consistency throughout to be on the top of the league is Chris Gayle. He has perfectly tackled different types of bowling attacks and was able to showcase his skills, especially in this format of the game.

If you consider the Indian Premier League history, you would see that Gayle ruled the game whenever he came on the field. He did dominate the bowling attacks from different bowlers and proved his worth every time on the field. He has been one of the most destructive batsmen when it comes to this format of the game and there is hardly any record where Gayle does not have his name on, especially in this format. He is one of the top performers in the Twenty20 cricket format, and every time he has left his fans on the edge of their seats.

Former West Indies legend Ian Bishop thinks that Gayle is the “Greatest of All Time” in T20 batting. In a recent talk with Betway group, he had all praise for Caribbean opening star Gayle.

“He changed and helped to evolve the way T20 batting was. And that’s why I think he’s the GOAT of T20 batting,” said Ian Bishop during in an interview on Betway.

Chris Gayle started his IPL career with Kolkata Knight Riders, but he was not successful in leaving much of an impact on the purple-golden brigade. But since he became a part of Royal Challengers Bangalore, his performance has been quite outstanding. Along with South Africa’s batting genius AB De Villiers and Indian batting maestro Virat Kohli, he was able to set various records in the T20 format of the game, which to date, remains unbeatable. He is the only player to have won the orange cap twice, which means he was the top batsman of those respected IPL seasons.

Record for most sixes

IPL is a fast-paced cricketing event and one of the best ways to determine which batsman is in the top position for this format is by counting on his number of sixes. Talking about Chris Gayle, he has enormous power when it comes to hitting sixes. In fact, he is the highest (282) six-hitter in the history of the league. In IPL 2012, he hit 59 sixes in one edition, which is itself a record- it is the highest number of sixes for any batsman in a single edition of the IPL.

Consistent game

Another thing that makes Gayle’s cricketing records more impressive is the consistency with which he plays his games. He is an aggressive batsman, with an average of over 40, and a strike rate of 150+. He is also the highest century-maker in this format of the game, which means he stands at the top with the highest number of sixes and centuries under his name. He is also the possessor of the highest individual score in the history of the league.

These are some records made by Chris Gayle from where it can be easily understood that he is one of the top batsmen in the T20 game format.
