Who is the kid who was photographed with his idol Ferrero?

Pablo Carreño (Gijón, 28 years old) currently occupies the number position 25 of the ATP ranking and he still dreams of adding more successes to the four titles that he currently holds in his record. To learn more about the figure of the Asturian, the website of the ATP circuit has prepared a list of five curiosities among which are his favorite idol and soccer team.

Success in Challenger tournaments

From May 2011 to July 2015, Carreño reached 11 finals on the ATP Challenger Tour. Outcome? He won all of them. He reached 35 consecutive victories between those two dates, against rivals like Dominic Thiem and Roberto Bautista, in addition to winning the award for Most Improved Player on the circuit in 2013.

Juan Carlos Ferrero, his idol

The mirror in which to look for Carreño has always been Juan Carlos Ferrero, his idol since he was young. The Asturian currently trains at the Academy that the ex-number 1 in the world has in Alicante and shared a photo with him on his social networks of a meeting they had in 2004.

Consecration at the US Open 2017

One of the best moments of the Asturian sports career came in the 2017 US Open, his best performance to date in a Grand Slam. Carreño dazzled in New York, where he reached the semifinals of that edition in which he was defeated against Kevin Anderson. Thanks to this, it rose for the first time to the top-10 of the ranking.

Sporting's faithful follower

As it could not be otherwise, Carreño is a faithful follower of the team in his city, a legendary Spanish football like Sporting de Gijón. The Asturian is seen every time his calendar allows for the stands of El Molinón.

The last success came in 2019

Almost two and a half years later, Carreño ended a title drought in the Chengdu Open 2019, where he won the fourth trophy of his sports career against Alexander Bublik. “This title is the reason to continue fighting and practicing this sport,” confessed the Asturian. And let it be for many more years.
