Fernando Signorini, former physical trainer of Messi and Maradona, has granted an interview to So Foot in which he spoke of the physical condition of the brand new signing of PSG during the summer market. In it, Signorini has labeled Messi as a cat that hunts mice and has no doubt that, at 34, he will have a full season in Paris.
“Leo has enough experience today to know how to manage his efforts during a game. He is not the typical player who does extra runs if he doesn't have to. Sure other teammates will make more efforts. Although he has only played 30 minutes this season, if Leo has gone with Argentina it is because the coach knows his physical condition ”, stressed Signorini.
Compare Messi with a cat: “The case of Messi is exceptional to maintain such a high level for quite some time. Like Diego (Maradona), Leo is like a cat that hunts mice. The physical condition will compensate with the experience. Leo has a very important tactical and strategic intelligence ”.
How to handle Messi: “If you want to help him, like the rest of the squad, the first thing you should do is get to know him, earn his trust in his daily dealings, listen to him and, above all, not force him. Who could really have the authority to impose something on Messi? In this type of situation and with this type of player, you have to put pride aside, listen to it and take care of it as much as possible. Everything has to be rational. You cannot take it to a field where you endanger its qualities. It is the responsibility of the coaching staff ”.
Your arrival in Paris: “I think it's a very good choice because you need to get to the World Cup in good physical shape, but also emotionally. If he had stayed at Barcelona, surely he would not have had a squad that lived up to his expectations. Barça no longer looks the same as before. I believe that in Paris he will have a much better chance of fulfilling his aspirations and thus reaching the World Cup in a positive frame of mind. Obviously, the results will have to accompany it ”.
