What’s next for Real Madrid?

Real Madrid has displayed an incredible performance this year, claiming not only the top spot in La Liga but the Champions League title, too.

But the team does not appear to be operating at its best and despite the extra silverware in the trophy cabinet, Madrid has not looked like the best team in the tournaments entered. The Champions League final sees Madrid with scrappy play with their goalkeeper, Courtois, earning man of the match for a flurry of impressive shot-stoppers.

Liverpool fans are naturally disappointed with the final result, but Madrid making their way into the final came as somewhat of a surprise. Sure, everything worked out in the end – but what’s next for Real Madrid?

UEFA Super Cup

The UEFA Super Cup is the next game awaiting Real Madrid with the top Spanish side pitched against Eintracht Frankfurt.

Held at the Helsinki Olympic Stadium on the 10th of August, the UEFA Super Cup is the annual event in which the UEFA Champions League winner and UEFA Europa League winner meet for one final game. It should, therefore, come as no surprise to learn that the Super Cup is not recognised as one of the top UEFA competitions.

It’s the first time that the two teams will meet in competition since the 1960 European Cup final which saw Real Madrid claim victory with a 7-3 scoreline at Hampden Park in Glasgow. Madrid is the bookie’s favourite to win once more with 4/9 odds as promoted by Paddy Power.

New signings in the transfer window

The 2022 transfer window is due to open in the next week, showing the hands of all clubs looking to change things up.

For Madrid, there’s one clear favourite that Carlo Ancelotti has his eye on – Aurélien Tchouaméni. The French national, currently playing for Monaco, is one of the hot picks for the 2022 season with Real Madrid competing against Liverpool and PSG for the midfielder.

The 22-year-old is expected to form a key player wherever he decides to spend the next stage of his career and with Real Madrid keen to sign new midfield players – it may form a good move for both parties.

Kylian Mbappe was another player that the Real Madrid side displayed an interest in – but the striker has confirmed that he will remain at PSG for the next season. With Mbappe’s signing bonus expected around the €100m mark – the transfer budget of Madrid would have taken a serious hit with the signing.

With a transfer budget reported at €140m, Carlo Ancelotti must be selective with the players that he’s looking to sign to create a stronger, reliable side. With Tchouaméni reportedly offered a sum of €60m, Madrid fans are unlikely to see the singing of any other football superstars.

Where to bet on Real Madrid

Sports betting fans in the UK have a huge number of options when looking for a good sportsbook including the Spanish side.

With football bigger here in the UK than it is almost anywhere else in the world, it’s only natural that the sports betting sites follow the pattern. Every bookie from Bet365 and Livescore Bet to 888Sport and Sky Bet has huge football markets with competitive odds to choose from.

Due to the competitive business of bookmakers, bettors signing up to betting sites for the first time are often able to find welcome bonuses – acting as a sign-up incentive. There are plenty of offers out there ranging from price boosts and enhanced odds to free bet offers and matched deposits.

The best sportsbooks aren’t shy about offering a good welcome bonus and if you don’t feel like you’re getting the best deal, bettors can find the best free bet offers at squawka.com.

The takeaway

There’s just the one last event for Real Madrid to complete before their 21-22 season comes to a close – the UEFA Super Cup.

The Champions League winners (Madrid) are pitched against the Europa League winners (Eintracht Frankfurt) in the final event, denoting the end of one season and the beginning of another.

The summer transfer window is expected to be a hive of activity for Real Madrid and although their interest in Kylian Mbappe may now be dismissed, interest in Aurélien Tchouaméni remains.
