Galicia, the Basque Country, Aragon, Extremadura, part of Andalusia, Murcia, the Canary Islands, the Balearic Islands … half of the Spaniards will enter phase 1 of the Plan of Descaling established by the Government this Monday and, among other things, that will It will allow a remarkable freedom when it comes to doing sports. Those runners and cyclists who until now were limited to their own municipality, will now be able to enjoy the roads and highways of their entire province, their health region or their island and the rest of athletes from individual disciplines will be able to start exercising in outdoor facilities. free.

Citizens living in phase 1 areas may return to tennis, paddle tennis or athletics courts and golf, shooting or archery courses regardless of whether they are publicly or privately owned. Yes, they must, following strict security measures and with certain limits: they will need an appointment, they will not be able to use the changing rooms of the open facilities and they will not be able to stop in the common areas. In cases such as tennis or paddle tennis, a maximum of two players per court has been established, while in athletics only the safety distance is claimed. For this, many clubs are already establishing strict schedules so that the runners do not agree on the tartan.

For professionals, change is also important. Athletes like Rafa Nadal can now return to training. At the same time, the High Performance Centers (CAR) can reopen in phase 1, although this change will hardly affect sailing facilities in Santander, the Palma Arena in Mallorca and other small centers around Spain. The large CARs of Madrid, Barcelona, León or Sierra Nevada may not reopen as they are in phase 0 areas.

To re-use indoor facilities or outdoor pools -which have been excluded from phase 1– you will have to wait for a later phase. In fact, the gyms will not reopen until phase 3. They will do so without the possibility of using the changing rooms and with a third of the capacity. In order to reuse pavilions for team sports, we will have to wait until the de-escalation ends, already in July.
