What happened to Marc Overmars, former Arsenal and Barcelona player?

Marc Overmars is considered one of the most talented footballers in the history of the Netherlands not only because of his individual technique, but because of his incredible speed down the left wing, a tireless one who gave a show by himself on whatever court he walked on. Overmars began his professional career with the Go Ahead Eagles and later signed with Willem II.

In a short time his quality was already noticeable, so he continued his development in the historic Ajax. There he stood out after five seasons defending these colors and became known to the whole world. Marc won it all in the Netherlands with Ajax Amsterdam: three league titles, three Dutch Super Cups and one Dutch Cup.

Numerous offers came to Marc Overmars' door after touching heaven with Ajax, but in the end he opted for Arsene Wenger's Arsenal. England witnessed the upright and neat style of Overmars, who over three seasons with the 'Gunners' added 142 games and 41 goals. In addition, it brought a Premier League, an FA Cup and three editions of the Community Shield to the club's windows.

He would finally arrive at FC Barcelona in the 2000-01 season, although for his bad fortune, the level and regularity that he had shown before disappeared with the Blaugrana team. There were four seasons sheathed in the shield of this Spanish club, where injuries also influenced so that his cycle there has been discreet.

Present

Marc Overmars returned to his country to retire permanently. He first played with the Go Ahead Eagles and finally said goodbye to the fields as a SV Epe footballer.. At the national team level, he participated with the Netherlands in the United States 94 'and France 98' World Cups, as well as in the Euro Cups of 2000 and 2004. He is currently still linked to football and serves as Ajax Sporting Director.
