“What does positive mean? There are bacteria in the vagina too …”

Lazio's PCRs continue to cause a stir in Italy. Yesterday, all those of the staff came out negative in Avellino's laboratory, while those that were executed in Rome indicated three positives among Immobile, Leiva, Strakosha, Lazzari and Anderson. The president of the laziale team, Claudio Lotito, was forceful in La Repubblica: “They are kidding us, I told you. What does positive mean? Does it mean being contagious, doesn't it? There are bacteria in the vagina of all women in the world, but they are not all pathogenic.”

The top manager biancoceleste revealed: “Also the sports director Tave is positive, but today nobody tells you if someone is contagious or not.” The problem is above all for Immobile and Leiva, who did not play in the Champions League against Brugge and Zenit, but did play on Sunday with Torino (which asks for explanations). The striker also trained with his teammates on Tuesday and played a small game: “Our doctor visited him, made the examination and he was better than before,” said Lotito. The problem, then, according to his version would be “how are the PCRs preserved, how the test is executed”.

The prosecution of the Italian Football Federation is investigating whether Immobile played against the granata being positive, something that Lotito flatly rules out: “We have the PCR, it was negative. Cairo (the president of Turin) hates me because he lost the game, his newspapers attack me for that. But he always loses, he is last in the standings.” His proposal is to use a single laboratory for the entire championship: “I asked the FIGC president, Gravina. The same tests for all, with the same parameters. Another player was positive in the UEFA tests, a private PCR was done and left negative…”.
