Whalley arrives at CD Lugo to cover Cantero's hole

Óscar Whalley signs with CD Lugo for the next two seasons with the option of a third in a movement that, due to its speed after Cantero's departure, had been in the making for a long time. The goalkeeper played last season at Castellón, where he was one of the highlights despite ending up losing the category. With the orelluts he played a total of 24 games and 2041 minutes, in which he conceded 25 goals.

Despite being a young goalkeeper, only 27 years old, Whalley has extensive experience in clubs of the Zaragoza, Huesca or Sporting de Gijón category, and even in foreign football with a stay at OFI Crete in the Greek league. The goalkeeper arrives at Lugo with the difficult ballot to replace Ander Cantero, who was fundamental in the last two stays of the albivermellos.

The incorporation of Whalley becomes the fifth in the CD Lugo market after the arrivals of David Mayoral, Ros, Chris Ramos and Alende. With the goalkeeper position already filled with Varo and Vieites in addition to Whalley himself, Lugo will seek time to reinforce other positions still in precarious such as central defense or in the attacking plot, where there are still troops to be added.
