“We’ve done half the job”

Jurgen Klopp, Liverpool coach, was satisfied after beating Benfica 1-3 at Da Luz in the first leg of the Champions League quarterfinals. “The result is fair but we knew it would be difficult. We’ve done half the work,” said the German coach, thinking of next week’s second leg at Anfield.

“We’ll be ready and we want to qualify. “They defended very well and we knew that winning 2-0 if Benfica scored things would get complicated. The game became more open, but we kept our balance and didn’t give up too many chances. In general, we could have scored more goals, the goalkeeper was Benfica’s best”, asserted the coach, who was full of praise for Luis Díaz.

“He is a top player, a world-class player. It is a joy to work with him every day, I am more than happy that we have decided to sign him in January,” said the Liverpool coach after the victory.
