Desolate and with a “broken heart”, Pilar Eyre broke down after hearing the news of Jimmy Giménez-Arnau’s death: “One of my best friends (…) Life without Jimmy seems like crap, sad, useless and boring. An irresistible, attractive man, above girlfriends was friendship. Sandrita has made him very happy, and from here I send him a huge hug.” These were the words of the writer in TardeAR.
She recalled her past with Jimmy Giménez-Arnau, “when the socialists won we toured Madrid together, we worked on Interviú, La máquina de la verdad, and Hormigas blancas”. Afterwards, she confessed to Ana Rosa that she feels “guilty”. “I should have been a better friend, I should have called him more, I should have worried more. I still have that sadness inside me.” She also wrote a farewell letter in Lecturas, the magazine she collaborates with. From there, she paid tribute to her soul mate.
“Before meeting his beloved Sandra Salgado, he was very fond of women, but nothing was as important to him as friendship.” An unbreakable friendship that lasted more than 40 years. They met on a night out in Madrid that changed their lives and united them “forever.” Pilar tells the magazine: “We went for a drink at Bocaccio and he was funny and naughty and there was no woman who didn’t fall at his feet.”
“If someone messed with me, he was always there to defend me, his last message was about that, “lady, don’t worry, he’s an idiot” (…) Among his memories: “We shared nude beaches in Ibiza and parties in Marbella and the love of our dogs, books and lots of drinks. We never hooked up.”
