“We have not seen the best Spain that can be seen”

The Spanish coach pointed out that Spain still has much more to offer in this European Championship. After the victory against Finland, Jorge Vilda stressed that there is still room for improvement.

“There have been good moments, good combinations, plays… but we haven’t seen the best Spain we can see. That’s what we’re working on, improving it. If I’m guided by experience, during the championships we’ve been growing. We also have something very valuable, the human group that we have. That is our greatest strength,” he declared.

Spain conceded a goal before the first minute of play was completed: “We knew it was a team that could hurt us in transitions and it was like that with the first ball. I knew there was time ahead and that the team was going to react. He never lost the conviction that we could lift the game for potential, for play and for players”.

“It’s a new situation, I don’t remember when we’ve had to come back from a game and ended up winning. We’ve seen very good things in the game, things to improve. Let’s prepare for the next one,” he added.

Vilda deepened her reflection: “The first half we played it all the same way. It was about transmitting calm and seeing how we could improve. Little had to be said. It was time to control the transitions well, which in the second half was improved”.

“Also attacking in different ways, with different variants. That has led us to win the game with a lot of possession and with many scoring chances. In general, the game has been good but this is going very fast and it’s time to think about Germany,” he added. .

He also highlighted the fact that three of the goals were headed: “It is curious that against Finland we scored three headed goals, but football is capricious. Against taller, stronger, more powerful players, if connections and synergies are created, you can fight the strength. Today was like that. That says a lot for us because we don’t have just one version to be able to finish plays”.
