We are all going to die: how they see their audience tragedy at Mediaset without Vasile or Jorge Javier

Spain can survive without the drug of the universe Save me, whose last vestige ended this Friday with the farewell of the Deluxeand losing the battle of the night against a rehash of Your face is familiar to me. But, three weeks after the goodbye of the evening magazine, Mediaset is having a regular time, pulling badly. Telecinco’s audience ratings show the weakness of its contents. We have asked and the nerves among the workers are on the surface, there are doubts and uncertainty, the feeling that nothing is working and that the road will be long and tortuous, not just to recover leadership but to stop the fall. Some manager, however, downplays the situation.

The Serie revenge is mine it stopped recording, now it has been withdrawn from Telecinco in the face of the disaster and they have no other option than to fill that hour with the Sandra Barneda, that extends its duration from this Monday and fights to achieve a 9% audience. This Friday it barely passed 8%.

The afternoon has lost three points on average (the trend is to continue falling), the prime time flop after flop, with releases that disappoint and, except for the mornings of Ana Rosa Quintana (which no longer marks the data of yesteryear), and survivors, already finished, everything goes wrong. Summer is complicated and autumn arrives full of uncertainty.

tabletop tragedy

Mediaset wanted to change the tones of its evening slot and that is why Paul Vasily, Before retiring, he commissioned a daily serial from his showrunner head, Aitor Gabilondo, who had demonstrated his expertise in Live without limits, Entrevías, The Prince o Patria.

But revenge is mine started off on the wrong foot, a fact that was evidenced when they were forced to re-record entire frames. Its creator, Aurora Guerra, left the project and the audiences did not accompany them from the beginning. With 100 episodes recorded Mediaset decreed the stoppage and sent the product to galleys (Divinity) to the disappointment of its protagonist, Lydia Bosch, which maintains that the series has a quality invisible to the majority of television viewers.

“I said it and I stand by it. I said that it was a very good series, and that if it was given time, it was a child that needed to grow. With time it would be a series that all viewers would like. We have not had time,” he laments the protagonist of Family doctor, who is resigned to the broadcast of the series on Divinity until October: “It’s been a pleasure, we don’t know what’s going to happen and who knows. Many things can happen between now and October, maybe later that’s not the end and we’ll continue And if it doesn’t have to be like that, it will end with this chapter that we have recorded and there is a closure according to everything.

Disappointment in the afternoons

For this trip, so many saddlebags were not needed: the hasty cancellation of Save me and the impossibility of Ana Rosa Quintana break their holidays led those responsible for Mediaset to take out a summer project that has not found the tone or the audience. The Banijay program led by Sandra Barneda does not reach a 10% share on its best days while Save me it exceeded 13% in the middle of the flu process.

Jewelery in prime time

Telecinco wants to explore the entire chromatic range after having abused pink and yellow and is testing “white and family” entertainment products, according to experts, during prime time. But these products have not landed on the right foot. ‘There you!’ opened with 12.3%, ‘¡Vaya vacaciones!’ it fell to 10.5% after its first installment and the star format of the summer, ‘Me slips’, has plummeted to 9%. The program Without filters, by Cristina Tárrega, plunged to 7% on Saturday night and will not be renewed.

September in the hands of ‘GH VIP’ and Ana Rosa

It is almost impossible for Telecinco to revive this summer and all the hopes of Mediaset España go through a comeback in autumn. If they don’t, Alessandro Salem he will have to explain his management after the failed white revolution in the house that killed ‘Save me’ without a consistent plan b.

Telecinco’s autumnal illusions go through ‘TardeAR’, which will show the strength or weakness of his ex-pupil’s program Sonsoles Onega, that continues without emerging despite the wear and tear of Telecinco’s afternoons. Ana Rosa Quintana has aroused some antipathy for the fact of taking over from ‘Sálvame’, of whose team the former queen of the mornings said that “people end up placing themselves in other places because they have a lot of talent, but the programs are not eternal and everyone It’s going to happen to us one day.”

The nights

On Mediaset España nights the key will once again be ‘Big Brother VIP’, which, before even premiering with Marta Flich as presenter, will have to overcome the ballast of the format, the sexual abuse suffered by Carlota Prado. This fact could invite many advertisers not to place their spots in the reality show.

Other offers from the company will be the new seasons of ‘La que se avecina’ or ‘Entrevías’, a new edition of ‘Survivientes’ (which changes production company) or new installments of the ‘Got Talent’ space.

What do they say in Mediaset about all the post-Save me disasters?

Family company supplies Berlusconi consulted by Informalia downplay the situation. “We don’t play money in the summer,” argues an important executive from Fuencarral, “and less by a few tenths.” Likewise, they justify, despite the bad data, their decision to eliminate the universe from the grid Save me and they emphasize that the business results are good: “We earn more money than Atresmedia, and we do not distribute the publicity with our presenters”, they defend themselves in Mediaset, firing at Paul Motorcycles and the agreement that the producer of the anthill.

From Fuencarral they explain that the priority was to “decontaminate” the image of the chain, inevitably associated with Jorge Javier Vazquez and his personal style, and reiterate that “the audience comes and goes”. They also seek “a greater plurality” in the News, “in which everyone has to be,” they tell us. “This cannot be Pablo Iglesias’ chain,” add the same sources. Regarding a possible change of faces, they explain that “it is not a question of changing Pedro Piqueras or Juan Pedro Valentín but of opening ourselves up to the presence of the whole world, of any ideology”. The audience for the news, they say, “depends on what comes before and after”, and for this reason they anticipate that they will have to find the programs that “effectively” cover the news spaces, remembering the Pass word that they lost in favor of Antena 3 and that for many it was the beginning of the end of the Vasile era, when the audiences began to crack and fell like a house of cards.

There is no doubt that in the coming months there will be important movements in the leadership of Mediaset, whether the changes planned for the autumn work or not. From Italy, the death of the patriarch supposes the division of the capital that the audiovisual giant manages. Now, the heirs can decide whether to stay or sell. The sons of The Knight They agree that Spain should send them good money, if they don’t think it’s enough, they’ll make a move. In Madrid they say that “the results of 2023 will be good”, thanks to effective cost control, but when you ask about how the loss of audience influences income, the answer is more or less this: I pass word.
