Atlético de Madrid footballer Virginia Torrecilla has been the godmother of the graduation of the third class of LaLiga Business School, held this Wednesday at the Wanda Metropolitano stadium in Madrid.
The event was attended by Óscar Mayo, LaLiga’s executive general director; José Moya, director of LaLiga Business School; Félix Suárez, Director of Postgraduate Programs at the Francisco de Vitoria University and Virginia Torrecilla.
The Atlético de Madrid player encouraged LaLiga Business School students to think positively for the future, after overcoming a severe illness.
After last season, which had to culminate with an online event, this LaLiga Business School promotion has been able to celebrate its graduation with a closing ceremony in which the 107 students of the 2020-21 academic year of the four masters organized by LaLiga participated Business School: Management, Methodology and Analysis in Soccer; Law applied to Professional Football; Global Sports Marketing; and the Master in Sports Marketing, released this year.
In addition, because the 69 students from the 2019-20 season could not enjoy a face-to-face graduation, they also attended the Wanda Metropolitano. Óscar Mayo, executive general director of LaLiga, thanked the students for their involvement and highlighted that LaLiga Business School is a strategic project of LaLiga because of its conviction: education as a first step towards professionalization.

Félix Suárez, Postgraduate Director of the Francisco de Vitoria University, showed his “appreciation” to the students for their work and adaptation in times of pandemic, as well as his gratitude to the representatives of LaLiga Business School and highlighted the need for commitment because ” only fools settle for success and do not seek new challenges. “
For his part, José Moya, director of LaLiga Business School, stressed LaLiga’s involvement with constant training. “The master’s degrees for the academic years 2019-20 and 2020-21 have been unique. For her part, the godmother Virginia Torrecilla encouraged the students to continue working. “I ask you not to settle because that’s what life is: getting up, continuing, continuing to fight. I suffered from cancer and a year ago I was trying to be able to play sports. Now I can be here thanks, in part, to my work and effort. I encourage you to do the same, “he said.
Currently, 18 former students of this program work in different areas of LaLiga such as the Legal, Marketing, Commercial or Digital departments and, in addition, 42 former students are currently working in LaLiga clubs.
LALIGA BUSINESS SCHOOL CRECE
In 2018, the LaLiga Business School project began, LaLiga’s commitment to training as the basis for future professionals in the sector. After three seasons, in which 225 students have graduated from the different master’s degrees, LaLiga Business School begins a new course this Friday, the 2021-22 season.
This new promotion will be special, since it will include the students of the ‘MBA of LaLiga’, an ambitious and exclusive program taught in English that will allow its students to develop their management skills to lead the transformation that the industry will face sports in this decade.
Javier Tebas, president of LaLiga, and José Moya, director of LaLiga Business School, will be in charge of welcoming the 112 students who will make up the fourth class of LaLiga’s educational department.
