Villarreal will move to Ciutat de València until the end of the year due to the remodeling of La Cerámica

MADRID, 11 May. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Villarreal presented this Wednesday the renovation project for the Ceramics Stadium, which is going to be modernized without increasing its current capacity, works with an estimated budget of 35 million euros and which will force them to play at the Ciutat de València from next season until the end of this year.

The club chaired by Fernando Roig will undertake this remodeling, which will be carried out by the international engineering and architecture company IDOM and the local construction company Alviben, to have their fief ready before the year of their Centenary, in 2023.

Villarreal had already reformed El Madrigal to transform it into La Cerámica in 2017, but now it will carry out “the greatest transformation that the stadium has ever experienced”, in what will be “an important step for the project of the yellow club, exciting, ambitious and sustainable,” said the entity.

“The metamorphosis of the new ‘groguet’ fiefdom will provide the stadium with architectural unity, improve the quality and experience of the fans on the pitch and will ensure that the Estadio de la Cerámica creates an incomparable football atmosphere in which to experience incredible sensations”, added the Villarreal.

The deadlines for this reform are from next Monday, May 16, one day after playing the last LaLiga Santander game at home against Real Sociedad, until the end of December 2022. The date set to play again at La Cerámica It is between December 29 and 31, coinciding with matchday 15, the first after the break for the World Cup in Qatar.

For this reason, Villarreal CF will ask LaLiga “to play the largest number of games allowed away from home at the beginning of the competition”, while until the end of the works they will play the home games at the Ciutat de València. “For this reason, the club wants to thank Levante UD for the disposition and facilities it has provided to Villarreal CF with the transfer of its stadium”, he stressed.

This transformation will have an estimated budget of 35 million euros and will force the Castellón club to make “a significant economic effort, despite the difficulties and the supply crisis, to modernize its field and offer the best experience to its fans in the club’s centenary season”.

The works will require the use of 2,400 tons of steel, 12,900 square meters of roofing, 8,700 square meters of ceramic facade and 4,400 meters of micropiles.

IT WILL MAINTAIN ITS CURRENT CAPACITY OF 22,000 SPECTATORS

Among the novelties of this reform is the construction of the new grandstand in the corner, between the stands of Preferencia and Fondo Sur, thus achieving the complete enclosure of the stadium, the coverage of all the capacity, the improvement in the infrastructures to “improve the
quality and the experience of the fans”, with two new video scoreboards with a 300 m2 screen, new public address systems and LED sports and architectural lighting, and the installation of the ‘Sky-Cam’.

New interior spaces will also be created, such as a multipurpose room at the top of the South End with views of the pitch and the square, the comprehensive remodeling of the restaurant and a new space for the club’s museum.

Villarreal will also bet on renewable energies through the installation of photovoltaic panels on the roof for self-consumption of the venue and will proceed to the total renovation of the seats. Although it will not touch its current capacity for 22,000 fans, it will make it more comfortable for its followers with a greater space between Preference locations.
