MADRID, 25 Ago. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The match between Villarreal CF and RC Celta de Vigo next Monday (9.30pm) will open the first of the four midweek rounds of the EA Sports LaLiga 2024/25, accelerating the pace of a calendar full of events and which at the end of the summer still has to decide all the teams qualified for the European tournaments.
In fact, there is a Spanish club involved in these last knockout stages of the UEFA competitions. It is Real Betis Balompié, whose league match against Getafe CF on matchday 3 has been postponed, as the Verdiblancos must play the return leg of their playoff for access to the Conference League against FC Kryvbas.
This match against the Ukrainian team will be on August 29 (9:00 p.m.) at the Benito Villamarín Stadium, with Betis having the advantage after winning 0-2 in the first leg. Therefore, the Betis team will play their match against Getafe later in the calendar in this third round of the First Division, subject to changing schedules depending on the temperatures.
Not in vain, the intense heat persists in a large part of the country. And to open the fire, never better said, the Villarreal-Celta match will open this third day at the Estadio de la Cerámica. Marcelino García Toral will sit on the local bench again, after serving a suspension that he had been carrying over from last season.
In Villarreal’s first two league games, with Marcelino still in the stands and communicating via walkie-talkie with his assistant coach Rubén Uría, a draw (2-2) at home against Atlético de Madrid and a victory away (1-2) against Sevilla FC has been the good record of the ‘Yellow Submarine’, occupying high places in the table.
Four points from a possible six have backed Marcelino in his plan, with special attention paid to the resurgence of Arnaut Danjuma. Despite marking the Colchoneros and Seville players, the Dutch striker will not have it easy to compete for a starting place with the recently signed Ayoze Pérez, Nicolas Pépé and Thierno Barry.
Celta have had a solid start to the season with two wins in two games, first against Deportivo Alavés by 2-1 and then against Valencia CF by 3-1. It remains to be seen how Claudio Giráldez’s men perform away from home, as they will also be without the injured Luca de la Torre and Mihailo Ristic at La Cerámica.
