Villacís bids farewell to Manolo Santana, “inspiration for Spanish sports” upon reaching “the top”

MADRID, 11 Dic. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The deputy mayor of Madrid, Begoña Villacís, this Saturday fired tennis player Manolo Santana, who died at the age of 83, and stressed that he was an “inspiration for Spanish sport” by reaching “the top” with four Grand Slams.

“Your effort and your talent are an inspiration for Spanish sport and, especially, for the tennis players who are following in your footsteps today. DEP”, the vice-mayor of the capital has expressed in her social networks.

During his career, the Madrid athlete won two Roland Garros titles (1961 and 1964), one at Wimbledon (1966) and one US Open (1965), which make him one of the great Spanish tennis players in history.
