Vilda: “We were able to beat one of the best”

MADRID, 7 Apr. (SportsFinding) –

The Spanish women’s soccer coach, Jorge Vilda, made a “positive” assessment after drawing with Brazil (1-1) in a friendly match played this Thursday at the Rico Pérez stadium and assured that they could even “beat one of the best” world teams in the final stretch of the match.

“In the end the game was very competitive, we played against a great team and we saw transitions from the most upright players in the world and I’m happy with my team’s performance. It’s one of the tests that really helps us”, said Vilda in Press conference.

“Brazil has presented us with problems that we have been able to solve and we know the things that we have to improve. I also prefer the end of the match that the team has gone forward, has not fallen and has even had chances to win the match. My assessment is positive”, analyzed the Spanish coach.

“Today we have competed against one of the best and we have competed well, but of course we have room for improvement. They won us the second plays, they created chances for any loss and forced us to improve in pressure and if you don’t play against a rival of this entity it is impossible to feel it. The players already have that experience and that always serves to improve in the following matches”, he added.

Asked about the system chosen, the coach said that “one of the strengths of the team is the essence, which is above the system used or the structure chosen with three or four defenders.” “The essence of the game, to dominate, to try to submit, to be in the opposite field… that has not changed. We are lucky to choose the players to play as we feel,” he said in this regard.

In addition, regarding the 8,833 spectators who watched the game, Vilda said that she has to “thank the entire public.” “It has been a party, the players are now signing shirts and taking photos. We are very happy with the reception this match has had and we also thank the Diputación and the Valencian Federation. It has been a success, we are always delighted to play here,” he explained.

“That is another of the great points of the games: the promotion. We are working well and we know that we are a reference for the girls who start playing. Laia, Alexia or any of the summoned ones are references and what they transmit is good. This too It is the result of the work and effort of the Valencian Federation. After this match, there will surely be more girls who start playing football”, concluded Vilda.
