The president of the Higher Sports Council (CSD), Víctor Francos, stated this Monday that in recent weeks and months “there have been changes in the world of sports that cannot be turned back” and has pointed out that whoever thinks that this can change “it will meet” the organism “in front of it.”
“During the last weeks, months and years, there have been changes in the world of sports that have no turning back. Since this team is behind, whoever thinks there is a turning back will find ourselves in front of us,” said Francos. at the event in which the captain of the Spanish Billie Jean King Cup (BJKC) team, Anabel Medina, announced the players who will represent Spain in the finals in Seville.
The president of the CSD also commented that life is “much better” when women “participate in it” and “sexist behavior” is expelled. Thus, he added that 50% of the population “cannot be excluded from anything”, and that for Spain it is “a source of pride” that the national tennis team represents the country in “such important” competitions, and that the support of the Government will always “be behind.”
Francos was optimistic about the performance of the national team at the BJKC in Seville, which is why he referred to Anabel Medina as the “future captain of the winning team” of the tournament. “Seville is a city that has always been a great host of major sporting events, there is no better place to play the finals,” he defended.
Finally, the Secretary of State for Sports confirmed his presence at the tournament, an event in which the team will compete “with the 12 best teams in the world.” “We will demonstrate the vitality and strength of Spanish women’s tennis in a competition that we have already won five times,” he concluded.
