Marco Verratti was one of the few PSG players, along with Kylian Mbappé and Neymar Junior, to speak out the day after the painful elimination in the Champions League round of 16 at the hands of Real Madrid.
“It is really difficult to accept a defeat like this,” the Italian midfielder wrote on his Instagram account, in which he also wanted to apologize to the fans of the Parisian team. Verratti was one of the PSG players who showed the most pain on the pitch at the Bernabéu when Mekkiele signaled the end of the match.
“You deserve our apologies. I will try to the end to give you back what you deserve”, he went on to address the supporters directly before leaving a message of unity at a difficult time for PSG. “We have to stick together because better days are coming,” said Marco Verratti, one of the standout players in the tie.
